Peace be to you my friends,

The sayings of the prophet of Islam, Mohammed -peace be upon him- are full of wisdom. and if someone follows them as guidelines of his/her life, he/she will succeed in this world and the hereafter.
I decided, in sha'Allah (God willing), to make a collection of artworks featuring the sayings of the prophet to let people know this man better. I hope you enjoy them.

In visiting the sick there is joy for the heart and removal of loneliness, decrease of pain, and comfort for the sick and his family.
The Prophet of Islam, Mohammed -peace be upon him- has recommended for us to visit the sick and it is also one of the rights that a muslim deserves from other muslims. the messenger of God -peace be upon him- said: “The rights of one Muslim on another are six” it was said: What are they O messenger of God -peace be upon him-? He said: “When you meet him greet him, and when he invites you accept, and if he seeks your advice then give it. And when he sneezes and says al-hamdulillah [praise be to God] then say yarhamukallah [may God have mercy on you], and when he is sick then visit him, and when he dies follow his funeral”.

From the etiquettes of visiting the sick, that one should be aware of, is: that the visit should not be long, nor should one ask much of the sick person, nor speak too much, nor mention that which worries him or increases his pain, nor should he mention a friend he dislikes, or an enemy, nor should he speak of his family and children except with what is best, all of this to show kindness to him.
Lengthy visits are burdensome upon the sick, and prevent them from doing things they may need to take care of.

If the sick person likes numerous visits and this causes him no harm then there is no problem, it all this depends on the situation, he may like to sit with some of his close friends and relatives, and get bored with others. If the visitor feels that the sick will be healed, then he should encourage him to have patience and give him glad tidings. He should assist him in getting medical care and meeting his needs that are within his capacity. He should try to make him feel good - cheer him up and open the doors of hope for him.

It is recommended for the visitor to sit beside the head of the patient, for this was the practice of the Prophet -peace be upon him- and of righteous people who came after him.

By sitting beside the head of the patient, the visitor makes the patient feel a sense of closeness to him; also, among other benefits, the visitor is better situated to place his hand over the sick person and supplicate for him.

The messenger of God -peace be upon him- advised muslims to say so many supplications for the sick [to ask God to cure them]. among these supplications: "O Allah Lord of Mankind, remove the harm, and cure him for you are the Curer, there is no cure except your cure, a cure which leaves no disease"

When one visits a sick person, he should be very careful about what he says, for the angels say "Ameen (i.e., O God, answer this supplication)" for whatever he says.
As the Prophet has said: "If you go to a sick person or to the dead, then speak well, for the angels say '"Ameen" to what you say."

It is recommended for the visitor to invoke God to forgive the patient, to have mercy on him, to grant him health, and to purify him from his sins.

It is from the proper etiquette of visiting a sick person to ask him about his situation and his sickness. and to say comforting words to the patient, such as, "No matter, you will get better, by the will of God"; or, "This sickness is not dangerous, and God will cure you, Insha Allah (if God wills)";

A man entered upon Umar ibn Abdul-Aziz[*] in his sickness and asked him about the cause of his sickness so he informed him. The visitor said: So and so never recovered from this problem and eventually died from it. Umar then said to him: When you visit a sick person then do not mention to him the dead, and when you leave here never come back.
* Abdul-Aziz was an Umayyad ruler [from 717 to 720]. He was also a great-grandson of the companion of the Prophet Muhammad -peace be upon him-, Umar bin Al-Khattab -may God be pleased with him-.

Sufiyan Ath-Thawri said: "The stupidity of a visitor is worse for the sick than their sickness; they come at the wrong time and stay for a long time." T___T

visiting the sick is a recommended act, even if the person is in a coma, because The Prophet -peace be upon him- and Abu Bakr [*] -may God be pleased with him- visited Jaabir while he was in a coma. This type of visit is a form of giving hope to the family of the sick, plus the possible answering of the supplication.
* Abu Bakr is one of the closest companions of the prophet Mohammed -peace be upon him-

some people place burdens upon themselves by taking gifts to the sick. They might even bring things that are from the customs of non-muslims - this is not from the etiquettes of visiting the sick, it is clear exaggeration, a burdening flattery, blind following...
The need of the sick person for your supplication, good words, and soft comments cannot be over emphasized. Concerning charity for the poor or help to the needy, - this is another matter which should not be joined with visiting the sick or be a condition for it.

When A Patient Is In The Final Stages Of Dying, Those Around Him Should Prompt Him To Say The Shahaadah ["There is no god but Allah"] When he dies, they should close his eyes and supplicate for him. As a patient is nearing the final stages of death, it is recommended for those that are present to remind him of God's vast mercy and to avoid making him feel a sense of hopelessness.

from the other sayings of the prophet Mohammed -peace be upon him- regarding visiting the sick:

The Messenger of God -peace be upon him- said, "God, the Mighty and Exalted, will say on the Day of judgement, 'O Son of Adam, I was ill and you did not visit Me.' The man will say, 'O Lord, how could I visit You when You are the Lord of the worlds?' He will say, 'Do you not know that My servant[*] so-and-so was ill and you did not visit him? Do you not know that if you had visited him, you would have found Me with him? O son of Adam, I asked you for food and you did not feed Me?' He will say, 'O Lord, how could I feed You when You are the Lord of the worlds?' He will say, 'Do you not know that My servant so-and-so asked you for food and you did not feed him? Do you not know that if you had fed him, you would have found that with Me. O son of Adam, I asked you for water and you did not give it to Me.' He will say, 'O Lord, how could I give You water when You are the Lord of the worlds?' He will say, 'My servant so-and-so asked you for water and you did not give it to him. Do you not know that if you had given him water, you would have found that with Me?'"
* servant : muslims believe that all creatures of God [including human] are servants of God.

"The messenger of God -peace be upon him- also said: "There is not a Muslim that visits another in the morning except that 70,000 angels ask forgiveness for him until the night, and if he visits him at night then 70,000 angels ask forgiveness for him until the morning, and he will have earned a garden in paradise".

and "Whoever visited a sick person does not cease to swim in mercy [of God] until he returns home, if he was to sit down he would be immersed in it"

and "whoever visited a sick person then, a caller calls from the skies: You have done well and your walk was good also, and you have earned a place in paradise"

he also said "Feed the hungry and visit a sick person, and free the captive, if he be unjustly confined. Assist any person oppressed, whether Muslim or non-Muslim."

That's all for today. my friends, I hope you could learn something new.

Peace be to you...
