The Niujie Mosque - Worship Hall 2

Assalaamu alaikum [peace be to you],

Here is the Worship Hall for men from inside. the red pillars are very decorated. and there are many beautiful frames with Arabic Calligraphy hung on the walls and near the ceiling...

The niche you see in the front wall is called the Mihraab. it indicates the Qibla; that is, the direction of the Ka'bah in Mekkah and hence the direction that Muslims should face when praying. The wall in which a mihraab appears is thus the "Qibla wall."

To the left of the Mihraab, you see the Minbar (see those few stairs that go up? that's the Minbar). The Minbar is a pulpit in the mosque where the imam (prayer leader) stands to deliver sermons. The minbar is located to the right of the mihraab.
