Description

Assalaamu alaikum[Peace be to you]

The prophet Mohammed -peace be upon him- said:
إن الحلال بين والحرام بين وبينهما أمور مشتبهات لا يعلمهن كثير من الناس فمن اتقى الشبهات استبرأ لدينه وعرضه ومن وقع في الشبهات وقع في الحرام
"Verily Halaal is clear, and verily Haraam is clear. And between them there are certain doubtful matters many people are unaware of, therefore, who stays away from doubtful matters he has protected his Deen [Religion] and honour. And who gets involved in doubtful matters, he would fall into Haraam."

Halal = lawful.
Haram = Forbidden.

Muslims around the world practice the religion of Islam. The practice of Islam includes observing dietary laws which come from Islamic teachings. Islamic dietary laws define foods that are Halal, meaning lawful or permitted. Muslims avoid food and beverages that are Haram, meaning not permitted.

:bulletgreen:Examples of Halal food:
- Milk (from cows, sheep, camels, and goats)
- Honey
- Fish and Animals from the sea
- Plants which are not intoxicant
- Fresh or naturally frozen vegetables
- Fresh or dried fruits
- Legumes and nuts like peanuts, cashew nuts, hazel nuts, walnuts, etc.
- Grains such as wheat, rice, rye, barley, oat, etc.

Animals such as cows, sheep, goats, deer, moose, chickens, ducks, game birds, etc., are also Halal, but they must be Zabihah (slaughtered according to Islamic Rites) in order to be suitable for consumption.

:bulletred:Examples of Haram food:
- Meat from swine - pork, ham, gammon, bacon, etc
- Pork-based products and by-products - sausages, gelatine etc
- Animals improperly slaughtered, or already dead before slaughtering is due to take place
- Animals killed in the name of anyone other than Allah.
- Intoxicants
- carnivorous animals, birds of prey and land animals without external ears (i.e., snakes, reptiles, worms, insects etc.)
- Blood and blood by-products
- Foods contaminated with any of the above products

While many things are clearly halal or clearly haraam, there are some things which are not clear. These items are considered questionable or suspect and more information is needed to categorise them as halal or haraam. Such items are often referred to as Mashbooh, which means doubtful or questionable. Food falling into this category should be treated as haraam until you know otherwise.

The food that is Haram and the food that is Halal are defined By Allah[God] Almighty in the holy Qur'an and also in some hadith of the prophet -peace be upon him-. in General, anything harmful is considered haram. all the food that is haram has a reason to be so. bad consequences on the health and source of diseases are among the reasons that make a food haram...

I hope that's beneficial for you all [especially non-Muslims who are not familiar with this subject].

Salam [Peace]
