Description

Assalaamu alaikum [peace be to you],

I got a several Christians asking me "Is Allah and the God of the Bible one and the same?" so I saw the need to provide a clear answer for all people to learn and benefit.

first, let's understand what does the word Allah mean:

:bulletred: THE ARABIC WORD FOR THE GOD:
In Every language, there is a word for god (or God).
In French, we call him Dieu, In Spanish, we call him Dios. In Danish, we call him Gut. In Greek, we call him Theos. In Hebrew, we call him Elohim or Eloha.
in Arabic, the word إله 'Ilaah' means 'god'. (feminin إلهة 'Ilaahah'. plural آلهة 'Aalihah') ال 'al' is the equivalent of the English pronoun 'the'. it's added to the right of the noun (remember, Arabic is written from right to left)
So 'the god' is الإله 'al-ilaah' in Arabic.
the goddess is الإلهة 'al-ilaahah'.
the gods is الآلهة 'al-aalihah'
'the god' could be used for the God (creator of the heaven and the earth, the God worshipped by the Christians, Jews and Muslims). but it could also be used for Zeus, Baal, Jupiter... any pagan god... and anything that's believed to be a god.
And then, we have the word الله Allah. it's similar to الإله Al-ilaah. but it's totally different. while Al-ilaah can be used for any god. Allah can only be used for one specific god: the one and only one true God worthy of worship. the almighty who created the heavens and the earth, the one who has full dominion over the whole universe. the God of mankind and all other creatures, the one who sent the prophets of old -peace be upon them- to guide mankind and deliver the divine message...
the Arabic word Allah is special because it has no gender. and it can not be made into plural. so this word is more accurate than the English word 'God'.

:bulletred: ALLAH IN THE BIBLE? NO WAY... or WAY
in a certain Christian website*, it's written :
"Contrary to Muslim claims, the word "Allah" is never found in the Bible in either Hebrew and Greek."
Well, there is no Muslim who claims Allah to be found in Hebrew or Greek Bible. we claim that the Arabic word Allah is found in the Arabic Bible. and this claim can be tested by anyone.

Arabic bibles are translated. edited and printed by Christians under the authority of Christian scholars and the church. they are used by Arabic-speaking Christians (of which there are about 15 to 20 million in the Middle East)
No Muslim can put the word Allah in the Christian Bible. if the word is there, then it's written by Christians themselves.

the examples in the picture above will help quell the doubts of those who have been duped into believing that Allah is only the God of the Muslims and not of the Christians. I hope that this serves as enough documentation for those who still have doubts about this.

:bulletred: ARABIC TRANSLATIONS OF THE BIBLE
Here are the Arabic translations of the Bible that I referred to in order to prove that Allah is the God in the Bible.
Know that Allah being the name of the God in the Bible is not my personal opinion. it's not baseless Muslim claim. It is a fact. a fact written with ink on every Arabic translation of the Christian Bible. all I did in the picture above is quote the Bible verbatim. I neither added a letter nor a dot.
you can go to these websites of the Arabic translations of the holy Bible and check by yourself if you want:
:bulletblue: Van Dyck (or Van Dyke) translation الكتاب المقدس ترجمة سميث و فاندايك [link] or [link]
:bulletblue: Sharif Bible (Sharif Book) translation الكتاب الشريف [link]
:bulletblue: Book of Life (Arabic Life Application Bible) translation الكتاب المقدس ترجمة كتاب الحياة [link]
:bulletblue: Good News translation الكتاب المقدس ترجمة الاخبار السارة [link]
:bulletblue: Jesuit Arabic translation الكتاب المقدس الترجمة اليسوعية [link]
All these translations without exception use the word Allah to refer to the God.

:bulletred: ALLAH IN EVERY ARABIC CHRISTIAN WEBSITE
in the official website of Sharif Bible [link] we can read in Arabic:
لا إلَه إلا الله، له الحمد، ومنه الإنعام والجود والهداية.
which can be translated to:
"There is no god but Allah, praise be to him, and from him come grace, generosity and guidance."

I'd like to note that the Islamic declaration of faith, also called the shahadah is:
أشهد أن لا إله إلا الله
I bear witness that "there is no god but Allah"
و أشهد أن محمدا رسول الله
and that "Mohammed is the messenger of Allah"
Do you find it strange that in the Christian website above we find the first half of the Islamic testimony of faith written exactly the same?
well, I don't find that strange. Christians and Jews believe in the one God just like Muslims do. And Arab Christians and Jews call that God Allah. as do the Muslims.

In the ArabChurch website [link] we can see a banner with the words:
الله يحبك
translated as "Allah loves you"
اعرف خطة الله الرائعة لحياتك
translated as "Know the Amazing plan of Allah for your life"
these are just a few Christian websites.
ALL Arabic Christian websites use the word Allah. this is something no one can hide or deny (unless someone chooses to irrationally deny that the Arabic Bible is a Bible). and this is something everyone can check.

Allah is indeed the name of the God, in the Bible and in the Qur'an.

:bulletred: WHAT ABOUT THE CONCEPT OF THE GOD
Now, a Christian may agree and say "Alright, I agree that Allah is the God of the Bible. but what about the concept of the God? is there a difference between the concept of Allah in the Bible and the concept of Allah in the Qur'an? I believe there are some differences which make me think they are two different gods with the same name!"
this is an interesting point, and it certainly deserves a detailed analysis and answer. I will need another article in order to deal with it, in sha'Allah [God willing]. :D

* I won't provide link because that website is spreading a lot of lies about Islam.

I hope this was beneficial.

If I am right, it's from the God. if I am wrong, it's from myself.
