Assalaamu alaikum [peace be to you]

after I made this [link] it seems so many people liked the happy old Muslim Scholar and asked me to do more of him. so here he is again in another story.

hope you enjoy it.

I didn't write the story, I found it in internet...

if you don't like it, it's fine. someone can't please all the world. but I really appreciate if you try to be polite and respectful even if you don't agree. if you can't, just ignore my artwork and leave in peace.

also, non-constructive critiques are not welcomed.

Salam [peace]

"Oh, don't mind me. I'm drawn like this." That cracked me up, as did the poor man's extreme reactions. Very cute and funny, but also so true!

Wow. I love these so much! It teaches a religious lesson even to those who would have nothing to do with such lessons otherwise. And that's the cutest little old Muslim scholar EVAR.

I don't believe in a higher power than myself and the universe (I'm not atheist, but a pantheist), and I'm pretty adverse to Abrahamic religions in general, but this comic has made me realize just how much I have, and that even though I'm poor money-wise, I'm rich in life and health. Despite our differences, I thank you for this.

Peace be to you,
I am glad that, regardless of our different beliefs, my humble work here was beneficial to you. :D

A couple weeks ago, I fell off a chair and hurt my tailbone. Soon my wisdom teeth will grow in. I hope I won't, but it is entirely possible I will sometime in my life come down with appendicitis and need it surgically removed. 'Nuff said.

Ehh, I hope this isn't meant to dismiss people who are actually living in poverty. Like, "Pffft, so you don't have food or a roof over your head - at least you can still walk and see!" Because that would be pretty awful...
Nayzak Featured By Owner Mar 23, 2012
it's meant to make people appreciate what they have and not feel down and upset thinking they are miserable and poor.

Poor guy: I tell you I am in a great distress and would prefer death to such a life and you seem happy.
Muslim scholar: Oh! Don't mind me. I AM DRAWN LIKE THIS.

That made me LOL'd for a full minute.

Oh yeah, just made some research and I just found that based on the Indiana University research, a human body could worth more than $45 million! That's God ultimate creation, in US Dollars.

Sorry, but I have a real problem with this Deviation. If one is destitute and cannot earn enough to actually live off of, that is a serious problem. Sure, it's nice to be able to see, speak, hear, think, etc., but if you cannot afford to feed, clothe, or house yourself, that is a serious problem.

That's precisely what I fight for on the streets and what I portray in my art. I want a society that is focused primarily on giving everyone a comfortable standard of living. Of course, this doesn't mean everyone gets a Corvette or something like that. It means that the welfare of the people are what matters, not profits and possibly, no one will be destitute again.

Call it socialism, communism, anarchism, whatever. I just call it the way things should be.

If the man wished death rather than his meagre and impoverished life, I think that's an avoidance of suffering.

The same as disliking the idea of having your eyes, tongue, feet and hands removed is also an avoidance of suffering. Yes, you would have fifty thousand dollars, but you would still be suffering, so nothing would have changed.

I'm not exactly sold on the idea that simply having these 'gifts' are a good way of quantifying wealth, but I think the problem with poverty AND physical ailment is the end result - suffering. Something we'd all tend to avoid.

I'm thankful for good health, but I'd be just as thankful for 50 thousand dollars too. And less thankful if I only had one or the other, because I would be suffering either way. Either I'd be poor and starving all day, or sick and rich all day, either way it wouldn't necessarily be a good life. If I had neither I'd have no need to be thankful at all, haha. And there are plenty of those!
