The barber was rather random about announcing there was no God, so I'm assuming he is probably an atheist who hasn't actually contemplated the matter very much and may even be part of the small number of atheists who identify as one to go against social norms. As for the reasoning, it only works if there are no religious people who are in these situations. A God or many gods may exist, but to me this argument does not prove it. If a God or multiple gods exist they would either have to have little power or not love all. If going to God helps everyone then all the suffering people who follow the correct religion would no longer suffer. I want to thank you for the nice way of presenting your points, but I feel the logic and reasoning has to be revisited.
