Assalaamu alaikum [Peace be to you],

No articles today. I just wanted to draw an Ancient Arab with a sword. practicing more with the traditional turbans...

This should not be necessary, but I remember last time I drew a girl with a sword, I got a... let's say, a pointless remark.
To make it short, Some people's mind processes like this:
Samurai + Sword = cool.
Spartan + Sword = cool.
Crusader + Sword = cool.
Everything [except Arab/Muslim] + Sword = cool
But
Arab + Sword = terrorism/violence
So, if you are of this kind and you intend to write a 'pointless remark', please do me a favor and show me you are not biased by going to the pages in the links bellow and commenting there first and then come here and just copy-paste what you wrote there. :D
These pictures are chosen randomly from dA search:

IN THE DRAWING:
The man's beard is a little reddish because of Henna. long ago, Arabs liked to die their hair and beard with Henna.

peace be to you,

Arabs used to be proud of swords. they used to give them names.
the prophet Mohammed -peace be upon him- had many swords.
the split sword you are talking about was Dhul-Fiqar, the Sword of Ali ibn-Abi-Taalib, the cousin of the prophet Mohammed -peace be upon him-.

People who thing Arabix + Sword = terrosim/violence are just in one word: PITY
I mean seriously.... how pitiful can they be for liking Samurai with sword etc. expect Arabi with sword.

Anyway, I'm wondering then if they would hate Sinbad or the other characters from MAGI since I totally doubt they would hate them. XD
Don't worry, I know plenty of people that like them seeing with swords because they find it really awesome.

Hello, peace to be with you :-)
That's a pretty, pretty picture and well drawn, I think.
But, I would like to ask you a question: Did ancient arab men often wear niquabs (that veil that covers not only hair and neck, but mouth and nose)?
I think (but I am not sure), that it was worn because of climatic reasons (the hot climate, sand(storms) etc.), but did men them wear for religious reasons too, or was/is that only allowed for woman?

Oh, btw: All yout historical pictures are stunning. I'd like to see more of them, if you don't mind :-)

That's not necessarily true, westerners tend to look at Arabs with Scimitars as pretty awesome. Remember first two "Mummy" movies, one of the more competent protagonists was a Medjay, a warrior of Arabic decent (well the actor was Israeli, but for America its impressive they actually got someone from the Middle East for the role) who commands an army of fellow warriors to slice and dice a bunch of undead legions of Anubis.
